A Polish engineer was kidnapped by unidentified militants in northern Pakistan on Sunday, police said.

The militants also shod dead the engineer's guard and two other Pakistani people in Attock district on the northern border of Pakistan's Punjab province, News Network International (NNI) news agency said.

The kidnapping happened at around 7 a.m. local time when the Polish engineer, working for an oil company, was conducting a survey at the Basal area of Attock district.

No group claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.

The police have launched a search operation for the engineer in surrounding areas.
