Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arranged a coordinated traffic system for smooth movement of millions of outbound and inbound passengers of the country's capital ahead of the Muslim's largest religious festival, local newspaper reported Monday.

This is for the first time the police authorities of the capital city launched a special traffic plan for the Eid-ul-Fitr festival, the largest religious festival of the Muslims which falls in early October, The Financial Express said.

DMP Commissioner Naim Ahmed Sunday said under the new system, DMP officials would stay at different strategic points with wireless sets helping ease traffic congestions amid a mad rush.

He said the new system would hopefully help ease vehicular movement through reducing traffic congestions.

Besides, thousands of policemen have been providing three-phase security on the eve of Eid, during the Eid time and after the festival to check extortion, mugging and other kinds of crimes.
