At least four persons including two policemen were killed and several others were injured in a suicide blast near northwestern Pakistan's Peshawar city on Thursday, state media reported.
The blast occurred outside the guest house of Asfandyar Wali Khan, leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), and killed four people, the official Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) said.
Asfandyar was exchanging Eid festival greetings with party workers at the time of blast, reports said. Asfandyar and his family remained safe.
Asfandyar was the target of the suicide bombing and he is safe, said the ANP spokesman Mian Iftikhar.
Iftikhar told reporters that they have received threats days ago.
The ANP, which runs the provincial government of North West Frontier Province (NWFP), is also a ruling party in the current coalition government.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani condemned the attack, saying Pakistan is committed to fighting terrorism in all its forms. Source:Xinhua
