Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (Rajan Mukti Group), one of the many armed agitating groups in southern Nepal's Terai region, has reportedly received a formal invitation from the government for talks, local media reported on Saturday.

A source close to the group said the government has sent a written invitation to the group for talks. The letter was handed over to the group through a government mediator.

According to a leading website, THT Online report, 14 among the27 armed groups in the Terai region had decided to accept talks offer a few days ago.

The source said the government letter has been signed by Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Janardan Sharma. The source said Sharma has taken the announcement of ceasefire by the group positively and urged the group to come to the talks table to solve their problems through dialogue.

According to an earlier report, a meeting of the 14 armed outfits being held in an undisclosed location in Indian state of Bihar decided to hold talks with Nepali government if the latter sends a formal invitation for it.

Although the armed outfits haven't come clearly on what they want the government to really do, but it is learnt that they are all unanimous in their demand for an "autonomous Madhesh state" including greater rights for Madhesis in their affairs.
