Polling stations opened in Mongolia Sunday morning in the Asian country's local parliamentary elections.

Voters will select representatives of local parliaments in the capital city Ulan Bator, all provinces, as well as counties and districts.

It is reported that seven political parties have presented candidates to compete for the 690 seats in all provincial and the capital's legislative bodies.

But the main race will be held between the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP) and the main opposition Democratic Party

The election of Mongolia's State Great Hural (parliament) was held on 29 June. The MPRP won a majority of the seats in the polls and established a coalition government with the Democratic Party.
