Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi left for Beijing late Wednesday afternoon to attend the Seventh Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).
Badawi, accompanied by his wife Jeanne Abdullah, left the Subang Airforce base near here in a government plane at about 4:45p.m., according to Malaysia's national news agency Bernama.
Badawi is expected to launch the Beijing representative office of Khazanah Nasional, an investment arm of the Malaysian Government, on Thursday, Bernama said.
The Malaysian prime minister is also scheduled to meet Asian and European leaders there, including Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat, according to Bernama.
