Nepali Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav Friday said that Nepal expects an enhanced level of development assistance and support from the international aid agencies.
Speaking at a program organized by United Nations House in Lalitpur, neighboring district of Nepali capital Kathmandu in south, to mark the 63rd United Nation's Day, Yadav said Nepal has special needs of its own in post-conflict rebuilding and stabilization.
He also praised the role of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) as a facilitator in Nepal's peace process. "For least developed countries like Nepal, United Nations stands as constant source of inspiration and reassurance in many ways, he said.
Meanwhile, in the program, Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Nepal Ian Martin said that no peace process can be said to be complete while there are two armies in one country. Focusing at Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) combatants, he said the efforts are being made to establish special committee responsible for integration and rehabilitation of CPN-M combatants will soon be successful.
There are 24 United Nations agencies working in Nepal, with 2,500 staff members.
