Nepali major political parties on Friday agreed to form a special committee for army integration apart from the leadership of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)(CPN-M).

A meeting held among four major parties, the CPN-M, Nepali Congress (NC), the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN-UML) and Madhesi People's Rights Forum (MPRF), agreed to form the special committee to look after the integration of the CPN-M combatants. However, it has not been agreed which party will lead the committee.

The meeting was held at the prime minister's office in Nepali capital Kathmandu.

Parties including the NC, the largest opposition party in Constituent Assembly, stuck to their stance that the special committee should not be led by the CPN-M, whose combatants are to be integrated and rehabilitated.
