Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani has directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to gear up its ongoing efforts for providing speedy relief and rehabilitation to the earthquake-affected people.

Presiding over a high-level meeting here, Gillani also directed concerned authorities to ensure prompt supply of food items in the affected areas and said there should be no shortage of food items in that area at any cost, the official Associated Press of Pakistan reported on Sunday.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the donor agencies, Non-government organizations and international community for providing help and assistance to mitigate the sufferings of the natural calamity-hit areas of southwestern Balochistan province.

NDMA Chairman Farooq Ahmed Khan briefed Gillani about ongoing efforts for provision of speedy relief and rehabilitation to the earthquake affectees.

Blankets, quilts, tents, warm jackets, plastic bags and food items were being provided to the earthquake affectees by NDMA on war footing basis, Farooq said.
