At least 93 people were arrested for suspicious terrorist connections in a north western village in Sri Lanka on Sunday, the police said.
The police arrested all of these people in the village of Kalpitiya, about 165 km from the capital Colombo, the police said.
All arrested were people who had arrived in Kalpitiya from Northern and Eastern provinces and living in temporary locations in the village, police added.
They were arrested during a house to house search for suspicious terrorist connections.
The police asked all people coming from the north and east in the district's main town Puttalam to register with the police on Oct. 20.
As a security measure to prevent possible infiltrations of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam for acts of terrorism, the police ask people from the north and east to register with them when they travel out of the two provinces.
