Around 2,000 personnel of Army and Frontier Corps (FC) are engaged in rescue and relief operations round the clock in the quake-affected areas in southwestern Pakistan's Balochistan province.
They are carrying out relief activities in Kotli Wam, Kawas, Varchum, Malazai, Toba Achakzai, and the most affected areas of Ziarat since Oct. 29 when the earthquake hit Balochistan.
So far, seven sorties of Pakistan Air Force C-130 Aircraft and 30 of Army Aviation Helicopters have flown to the affected areas. Relief goods which have been distributed among the quake-hit people include 15,710 blankets, 5,714 tents, 1,792 sleeping bags, 5,600 jackets, and 2,400 plastic sheets, according to the official Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
Around 41 tons of rations have also been distributed among the quake affectees since the day of quake. A train containing 1,602 tents, 1,155 blankets, 3,600 mats and other relief goods has also been dispatched from Karachi on Sunday, reported APP.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is regulating the relief activities through 10 relief camps, 6 mobile relief teams and one relief goods coordination center established in these areas.
Two earthquakes measuring magnitude 5.0 and 6.5 on the Richter scale hit Quetta, capital city of Balochistan province, and its adjacent areas on the morning of Oct. 29.
