A magnitude-5.2 earthquake hit the eastern Philippine region of Samar on Thursday morning, but no casualty or damage has been reported.
The quake was recorded at 09:04:33 a.m. local time (01:04:33 GMT), and the epicenter was 415 km east south-east of Manila at a depth of 35.0 km, the United States Geological Service said in a report posted on its website.
At the same time, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake was recorded at magnitude 5.0. It said the earthquake was tectonic in origin and no aftershocks are expected.
No casualty has been reported in the Philippines.
The Philippines is often hit by earthquakes, although most are low in magnitude and cause little damage.
The Southeast Asian country is part of the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, a string of islands on the Pacific Ocean rim that were formed by the eruptions of undersea volcanoes.
