One soldier was killed and 5 others were injured when insurgents detonated a roadside bomb in Thailand's southern province of Narathiwat on Monday morning.
The explosion occurred on a road in Bua Joh village of Rusoh district at 10:30 am (0330 GMT), according to local newspaper Bangkok Post's website.
The insurgents detonated the bomb when the pick-up truck carrying six paramilitary soldiers arrived at the scene.
One of the injured soldiers died of sustained injuries at the Rusoh district hospital.
Insurgent violence in Thailand's three southernmost provinces --Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani -- has killed over 3,500 people in the region since its resurrection in January 2004.
