Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday left for New York to attend a high-level session of the United Nations General Assembly on "Culture of Peace" due from Nov. 12 to 13.
"Pakistan fully supports the initiative of Saudi King Abdullah for inter-faith and inter-cultural dialogue to promote peace, understanding, and tolerance among human beings, as well as respect for all their diverse religious, cultural and linguistic identities," a Foreign Office statement said.
Zardari will also hold bilateral meetings with the heads of state who will attend the high-level session, said the report.
Around thirty world leaders including King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and United States President George W. Bush will attend the interfaith conference at the UN Headquarters.
The UN interfaith conference, the first of its kind, is being held at the initiative of Saudi King Abdullah and on the recommendations of the conference that was held in Madrid in July. Source:Xinhua
