Madagascan president Marc Ravalomanana would attend the third edition of the "European Development Days", which would take place in Strasbourg, France, on Nov. 15-17, 2008.

The presence of Madagascan president to "European Development Days" was learned when he met the European Union representative to Madagascar Jean - Claude Boidin on Monday in Antananarivo.

In preparation for the Madagascan president's trip to France next Saturday, Boidin said in the presence of the Madagascan Minister of Finance and Budget Haja Nirina Razafinjatovo that the development agenda of Madagascar and the progression of the government development plan would be discussed at the days.

Madagascar had already participated at the first edition of "European Development Days" in Brussels in 2006, when President Ravalomanana presented for the first time the Madagascar Action Plan 2007-2012, the website of the Madagascan Presidency said on Tuesday.

Boidin informed his hosts that the meeting would have the opportunity of participation, not only Heads of State and leaders of African countries and poor countries in other continents but also European leaders.

The "European Development Days" would provide an opportunity to take stock of cooperation and the respective commitments of the European Union, development partners and poor countries, Boidin informed the media.

Under the difficulties of economy, finance and food, Boidin added, "on the international context which is a source of concern and on ways in which everyone can keep its commitment to solidarity, assistance and cooperation".

Solutions to international crises would be taken in the most favorable possible to the needs of developing countries alongside with another summit in Washington, which would discuss the foundations for rebuilding the global financial system, he said.

The development of Madagascar is supported by the European Union, which allocated 577 million euros (736 million U.S. dollars) for the island under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF) and the Madagascan government' s priorities.
