The Nepali Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology has received a grant of 1.325 million US dollars to prepare an action plan for the implementation of the Convention on Climate Change.
Amidst a program organized at the Ministry on Friday, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), UK's Department for International Development (DFID) and Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) agreed to provide the assistance, the Nepali National News Agency RSS reported.

On the participation of the concerned stakeholders, programs to reduce the problems of climate change will be introduced in the Plan, aimed at completing within 18 months.
Similarly, the Plan would also introduce the concept of multi-stockholder mechanism to manage the knowledge on climate change, development of a learning platform, and for carrying out works on climate change.
For the formulation of the Plan, the UNDP has agreed to provide250, 000 US dollars, DFID 875,000 US dollars, and DANIDA 200,000 US dollars.
Earlier, the government had requested the agencies for the aid to prepare the action plan, as there is a provision that countries falling under the line of poverty will not get the amount from the fund of least developed countries for the implementation of the Convention unless the action plan is prepared.
Of the 48 countries, which are enlisted as the least developed countries, 38 countries have so far prepared the working plan. Some of them are in the process of getting the amount from the fund.
