South Korea should stop DPRK- targeted war exercises if it really intended to ease bilateral ties, a commentary carried on Saturday by the official Rodong Sinmun said.
Dialogue and war drills couldn't be co-existing, the commentary said, accusing war exercises in South Korea of escalating the inter-Korean political and military standoff and tension and of disturbing the cause of peace and reunification of the country.
It urged South Korea to stop war exercises against the DPRK, for it deteriorated the inter-Korean relations and chilled the atmosphere of dialogue and peace.
Relations between the two countries technically still at war have frayed since February when conservative President Lee Myung-bak took office pledging to get tough with Pyongyang. The DPRK decided on Wednesday to cut off all land borders with South Korea from December.
