The South Korean Unification Ministry said Monday that the government is seeking legal means to bar the country's rightist activists from sending propaganda leaflets across the border to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Ho-nyoun said at a news briefing that the government is reviewing various ways to seek a "legal ground" to stop the activity.

South Korea's Yonhap News Agency said the move is part of Seoul' s efforts to rekindle the chilled inter-Korean ties, as DPRK officials intensify their protests against the leaflets they claim are defamatory of their leader and regime.

South Korea's rightist activists often fly balloons into DPRK laden with leaflets printed with propaganda messages.

The DPRK has demanded the South Korean government to take measures to stop the leaflets spreading into DRPK territory.
