An explosion took place when a funeral was going on in northwestern Pakistan on Friday and at least seven persons were killed, private TV channel DAWN NEWS reported.

The suicide blast occurred during a funeral prayers in Islamia colony near Bannu road of Dera Ismail Khan city of North West Frontier Province, said the report.

As a result, seven persons were killed and around 20 others were injured. The injured were shifted to the District Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan for treatment.

The funeral procession was held for Shahid Iqbal, a Shiah Muslim who was shot dead by unidentified motorcyclists on Thursday.

Witnesses said firing started in different parts of the city, killing one person. Angry mobs burnt buses in a local bus station, TV channels reported, adding that several shops were also burnt.
