An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.9 jolted central Japan on Monday morning, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
The quake's epicenter was about 10 kilometers underground in the eastern Mino region of Gifu Prefecture, the agency said. The tremor was also detected in parts of Aichi, Nagano and Shizuoka prefectures, it said.
No tsunami warning has been issued and there were no immediate reports of damage from the 6:15 a.m. quake.
