Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday began a two-day visit to Brazil aimed at seeking greater bilateral cooperation.
Lee visited the Industry and Economy Federation of the State of Sao Paulo on the first day of his trip, and is due to meet with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Senate leader Garibaldi Alves, Brazil's Foreign Minister Celso Amorim told reporters Monday.
Leaders of both countries will discuss further cooperation in bilateral trade and investment, science and technology, combating tropical illnesses and transportation. They will also exchange views on promoting cooperation between the Common Market of the South (Mercosur) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Singapore is Brazil's main investor in naval construction and oil exploration. Bilateral trade reached 2.58 billion U.S. dollars in 2007.
