Coordinated attacks in India's commercial hub Mumbai Wednesday night have killed at least 80 people and injured 250 others, including four police officers, news reports said.

Terrorist attacks have occurred frequently in India in recent years. Statistics from the Interior Ministry show that a total of 5,011 people were killed in the attacks between 2002 and 2007.

Terror attacks have been on the rise in recent years in India, with major attacks resulting in large numbers of casualties each year since 2006.

The following are some major terrorist attacks in India since 2007:

Feb. 19, 2007: An express train heading from India to Pakistan was torn apart by two bombs in Haryana state, sparking a fire that killed 66 and seriously injured more than 20.

Aug. 25, 2007: At least 42 people were killed and some 50 others injured in three explosions in the southern city of Hyderabad.

Nov. 23, 2007: A string of explosions ripped through courthouse complexes in northern India's Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad cities, killing 16.

May 13, 2008: Bombs exploded in crowded markets outside Hindu temples in the popular tourist destination of Jaipur, killing at least 60 and injuring more than 150.

July 26, 2008: Some 16 small bombs rocked Ahmedabad in western India's Gujarat state, killing 45.

Sept. 13, 2008: Seven explosions killed 18 and injured more than 90 others in the capital New Delhi.

Oct. 30, 2008: At least 70 were killed and more than 300 injured in 10 blasts in the northeastern state of Assam.
