The South Korean government on Thursday condemned the terrorist attacks in Mumbai and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

"The South Korean government denounces terrorism as a crime against civilization and against mankind that can be never tolerated," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Moon Tae-young.

The ministry said it has launched a task force to seek better protection to South Korean residents in India, especially in the financial capital of Mumbai, where over 2,000 South Koreans, including some 1,000 students, live.

The ministry asked its nationals to leave the area if possible or refrain from traveling there.
