A strong earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale rocked southern Sumatra, Indonesia, at 08:47 GMT Friday, the Hong Kong Observatory said in a news bulletin on Friday afternoon.
The epicenter was initially determined by the Hong Kong Observatory to be at 4.9 degrees south latitude and 101.6 degrees east longitude, about 460 kilometers south-southeast of Padang, Indonesia.
No immediate casualty has been reported.
