A second Canadian has been confirmed dead in the Mumbai terrorist strikes, Canadian Foreign Minister Lawrence Cannon said Friday.

The identity of the victim was not being released, and the family has been notified, Cannon said.

Earlier in the day, the first Canadian killed was identified as a veteran doctor from Montreal, who was on vocation in India and due to return early next week.

Cannon also said there were 20 Canadians in Mumbai at the time of the attacks.

Aside from the two killed, two others are recovering from gunshot wounds and 16 are unharmed.

More than 140 have been killed and almost 400 others injured in the two-day attacks and standoff targeting Westerners in the Indian financial capital.
