Poll: Thais ashamed of political chaos in their country

A new poll released on Sunday here showed that most of the Thai people felt ashamed of the country's current political turmoil as protesters continue to shutdown two Bangkok airports in a showdown against the government.

The survey, conducted by the leading poll agency Abac Poll Research Center, showed that 76.5 percent of people interviewed felt very embarrassed about the local political turmoil and the negative views of foreigners toward Thailand.

According to the survey, 65.1 percent of the interviewed people said they would have less pride in the country, if the situation turns violent and escalates. 92.3 percent believed political problems can be solved by the justice system.

It also said that 58.4 percent of the people will not take sides in politics.
