Weeping relatives and friends of Uma Garg, victim of the Mumbai attack, cuddled and consoled each other on Sunday after a funeral at the Shivaji Park Crematorium.

"We feel terribly sorry for Mrs. Garg,"said Pradeep Pande who was the colleague of Garg's husband at the Ispat industries, adding that it was an impudent act to kill innocent people in sucha way.

Garg's only son who is studying in the university in the United States, hastened home for the funeral joining his relatives to pay the last tribute to his mother.

Pande said that Garg was receiving a business delegation from Spain at the Oberoi Trident Hotel when the attackers intruded the building. She was taken as a hostage and was thought to be killed on the second day of the incident.

Located at the city center, the J.J. Hospital that had admitted a large number of injured people in the attack was strictly guarded. Journalists were not allowed to bring cameras inside and were restricted to certain areas to cover news.

A pungent smell of antisepsis was emanating from the mortuary of the hospital where workers were busy at dealing with dead bodies of the victims on Sunday.

The catastrophic attack in Mumbai ended on Saturday has left the city with mournful people who lost their beloved ones in the tragedy as well as tremendously damaged building.

The Taj Mahal Hotel, one of the main locations captured by the attackers and was the last one to be cleared. Road blocks were set outside to stop cars from getting close and crowds were forbidden to draw near.

The world culture heritage building has lost its glamorous appearance. It was heavily smashed in the attack with a few parts of outer wall of have obviously turned black due to explosions and fires.

Hundreds of people of Mumbai assembled outside the hotel on Sunday evening, lighting candles and holding up banners, to call for people to unite amid tragedy, as shown on local TV channels.
