The Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Monday asked Indonesian citizens to leave Thailand sooner due to intensifying massive protests among pro and anti government supporters in the country.
The national flag carrier Garuda will soon take 165 Indonesians home after efforts were made to avoid the departure from Thai capital's main Suvarnabhumi airport which has been forcibly closed by demonstrators.
"We are preparing to evacuate another 210 Indonesians," the leading website Kompas.com on Monday quoted President Yudhoyono assaying.
He said that the government would consider evacuating all Indonesian citizens through possible access such as Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia. The Indonesian government through the embassy also considered several ways in evacuating the citizens, such as combination between trains and planes.
Since last week, protesters from the People's Alliance for Democracy have seized both Bangkok airports and closed the Thai capital to all commercial air traffic and to give no compromise unless Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat quit. Source:Xinhua
