Foreign tourists or businessmen, who have been stranded in Thailand after anti-government protesters occupied Bangkok's two airports, can receive free medical treatment at either state or private hospitals in Thailand, according to Thailand's Public Health Ministry on Monday.
"We will pay for that," the ministry's secretary general Dr Prat Boonyawongvirot said, adding that if the foreign tourists and businessmen fall ill while waiting for a flight back home, they are entitled to free medical treatment.
Tourism Minister Weerasak Kowsurat said Monday that the number of stranded tourists has risen to 240,000.
