Singapore would be glad to explore ways to strengthen bilateral co-operation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the areas of trade and investment once international concerns were assuaged and the environment improved, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong said on Monday.
Goh, also former prime minister, made this point when meeting with visiting DPRK's Foreign Trade Minister Ri Ryong Nam.
He also encouraged the DPRK to enhance its relations with other countries, especially countries in Northeast Asia, as this would further strengthen investors' confidence and create even more economic opportunities for the country, according to comments by Goh's press secretary.
Ri briefed Goh on economic developments in the DPRK and possible investment opportunities for Singapore companies.
Both leaders also reaffirmed the good relations between Singapore and the DPRK, according to the press secretary.
