Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has visited an agricultural city south of Pyongyang, the official Rodong Sinmun daily said Friday.
Kim inspected a chicken farm and a cooperative farm in Sariwon city, the capital of North Hwanghae province, about 60 km south of Pyongyang, the Rodong Sinmun said, without giving the date of the visit.
Agriculture is of great importance in solving people's need for clothing, food and housing, Kim said, calling on the people to make efforts to "bring about an epochal turn in agricultural production."
He also visited the "Minsok (folklore) Street" in the city, a tourist attraction showcasing the Korean history and culture, where visitors may savor traditional Korean food and drink.
