The Singapore Flyer started turning again at about 11 p.m. (1500 GMT) on Tuesday, six hours after the observation wheel grounded to a halt because of a technical fault, local media reports.
The Strait Times said on its website that some 173 people were stuck in the capsules of the wheel. Passengers were rappelled down from the capsules. Ambulances and Singapore Civil Defense Force crews were also on hand, but there were no reports of any injuries or medical emergencies.
But the report did not mention the cause of the incident.
The 165-meter tall wheel stopped running at about 5 p.m. (0900 GMT). This is the third time the Flyer encountered such problems since it came into operation this February. The latest report of a technical problem was on Dec. 4.
The wheel is about 42 storeys high and it takes about half an hour for a ride. Each capsule can take up to 28 people.
