A falling container killed a crane operator in Tuas, southwest part of Singapore on Saturday.

According to Channel NewsAsia reports on Saturday night, the 40-year-old man, who was operating the crane at the time of the accident, was crushed by a 40-foot container and pronounced dead at the scene.

Rescuers from the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) rushed to the scene and managed to extricate the body from the wreckage.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident.

It is one of such accidents that took place in the city state this year.

In February this year, three workers were killed and two injured when a crane at the construction site of the National University of Singapore collapsed.
