Fifty people who were having a Christmas party were injured on Sunday after the floating cottage they stayed in suddenly collapsed, local media reported.

The victims, mostly women, were inside a floating cottage in a resort in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental Province, when the floor suddenly cracked, the on-line news network ABS-CBN News said.

The terse report said overloading is considered the cause of the accident.

The victims were in a local hospital for treatment, the terse report said.
