Singapore called on all parties in Gaza to exercise maximum restraint and work towards an early re-establishment of the cease-fire, the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Monday night.

"We are deeply concerned about the situation in Gaza with mounting civilian casualties and the possibility of a humanitarian catastrophe," a spokesman of the ministry said in the statement.

"We urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint and work towards an early re-establishment of the cease-fire. Once this can be achieved, we hope that there will not be a repetition of the events that also resulted in the loss of many innocent lives and led to the current escalation of conflict," said the spokesman.

On Saturday, Israel launched massive air raids which were targeted at Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, killing so far more than 300 and wounding over 900 people.
