Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Wednesday evening delivered messages for new year of 2009, expressing optimism to success in passing the tough year.
"I say happy New Year of 2009," the President told a press conference after a meeting of discussing how to withstand the economic slowdown in the year at the Finance Ministry here.
The president said that it was needed hard work to cushion the deepening fallout of the global recession as the country would hold a legislative and presidential polls next year.
"Don't worry, let's together success our program in 2009, the election and the economic problem," he said.
"With that spirit we will pass the year well and the government would stand at the front to success the program," said Susilo.
Indonesia's economy is predicted to suffer from slowing down of the global economy to the lowest level of 4.5 percent next year.
