Thailand is ready to host the 14th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in late February, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya said Saturday.

Foreign Ministry proposed that the summit be held on Feb. 27, 28 and March 1, he added.

The summit is expected to be held in Bangkok, as confirmed by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.

Meanwhile, ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan told reporters after a bilateral meeting with Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya on Saturday that Thailand should be given a chance to host the 14th ASEAN Summit as the country has currently returned to normalcy.
