At least eight people were hurt in the Philippines Saturday night when grenade explosion rocked a holiday carnival, the military authority said.
Colonel Marlou Salazar, commander of the Army's 601st Infantry Brigade in Mindanao region, said a hand grenade was hurled towards the crowd of people gathering at a road-side of Tacurong city in Sultan Kudarat province at around 19:15 p.m. local time (1115 GMT).
The military official said most of the injured were hit by shrapnel on their legs while another was hurt on the head. The victims have been sent to a local hospital.
No one has claimed responsibility for the latest attacks but officials suspect the involvement of rouge Muslim rebels.
"We suspect rouge Moro rebels might be involved in the attack," Salazar said.
Philippine security forces have been on high alert since a similar grenade attack wounded 27 people three days ago in General Santos City. Source:Xinhua
