Former Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina will form her government on Tuesday for a second time after her party Awami League (AL) won a landslide victory in Monday 's 9th parliamentary elections.
Secretary General of Awami League Abdul Jalil told Xinhua on Saturday the new cabinet members are scheduled to be sworn in on Tuesday, which has also been confirmed by an official of the President House.
President Iajuddin Ahmed will administer the oath of office to members of the new cabinet to be headed by Hasina as Prime Minister Tuesday evening, the official said.
Hasina, 61, has been elected the Leader of the House of Bangladesh's 9th parliament Saturday evening in a meeting of Awami League parliamentary party and the party's senior presidium member Zillur Rahman was elected Deputy Leader.
As per rules, Hasina after being elected as the Leader of the House will request the President Iajuddin Ahmed to swear-in her new cabinet.
Jalil said consultations on formation of the new government are going on but it is still unclear how many members will be accommodated in the cabinet.
However, he said, "The number of ministers may not exceed 40 this time."
Reports of local media said, Hasina would avoid picking only old faces for the cabinet but select some new and younger ministers. And she might offer cabinet posts to its allies and main opposition Bangladesh National Party (BNP) as well in addition to the promised Deputy Speakership.
Hasina, the eldest daughter of Bangladesh's founding leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who led the independence war against Pakistan in 1971, ruled the county as prime minister in 1996 to 2001.
Earlier on Saturday afternoon, the 259 MPs-elect of the AL-led 15-party grand alliance took oath as members of the country's 9th parliament while the left MPs-elect of the 300-member parliament will be sworn in on Sunday.
Hasina's AL won 230 seats in the 9th parliamentary elections held on Monday while AL-led 15-party grand alliance won 262 seats. Her rival, former prime minister Khaleda Zia's BNP got 29 seats while BNP-led 4-party alliance won 32 seats.
Polls for 299 seats out of all 300 parliament seats were held on Monday while polls for the left one seat were postponed to Jan.12 after one candidate died last month.
