Eight passengers were killed and two others injured when a truck and a microbus collided in Bangladesh's northern Mymensingh district, about 122 km away from capital Dhaka, on Monday morning.
Chief of police in the district Md Rafiqul Islam told Xinhua on Monday that the accident took place at about 8:00 a.m. local time when a Mymensingh-bound truck from Dhaka rammed into a Dhaka-bound microbus.
"Eight passengers including driver of the microbus died on the spot while the condition of two other injured are also critical," he said.
Islam said on information police and fire fighters rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and sent them to a nearby hospital.
Bangladesh has one of the highest fatality rates for road accidents in the world. According to official statistics, more than 10,000 people are killed in various accidents every year. Source:Xinhua
