Floods caused by continuous heavy rains in Indonesia's West Sulawesi province killed eight, with two still missing, the Jakarta Post reported.

The floods also displaced thousands people from their homes in West Sulawesi province and West Nusa Tenggara province and inundated some popular tourist spots in Bali province.

"We're afraid there will be more floods, because there's still heavy rainfall in other areas," said Ali Baal, regent of Polewali Mandar in West Sulawesi.

Ali said he had coordinated with the Majene regent to clean up roads, which with 10 bridges were damaged by the floods, to open up access for aid to move in.
