Rescuers must pass through unfavorable weather for hunting over 230 missing passengers after their ship sunk in the waters of central Indonesia, as 22 survivors have been rescued on Monday, a rescuer and local official said.

Three Naval war ships and some ships of sailors and National rescue team deployed to join the rescue, head of the rescue team Wahyudi Suparman said.

"We must pass through very stormy weather to find them," he told Xinhua over phone from Parepare town.

Head of the port administration at Majene, Yetasa Sarita said that families of the passengers were waiting at the port to find out the fate of their families, as three more survivors were rescued, putting the total people escaped from the sea accident to 22. Four of the 22 were the crew of the ship, he said.

Sarita said that the authorities must close the route from Parepare to Samarinda of East kalimnatan province for the bad weather.

The Teratai ship, departed from port at Parepare town of South Sulawesi province on 19:45 local time Saturday toward Smarinda of East Kalimantan province, sank 30 miles (50 kilometers) off western Sulawes said Suparman. The sailors found 18 survivors before down on Sunday.

Ship is a favorite transport mean in the archipelago country with over 17,000 islands, but poor safety standard has been often blamed for the rampant accident.
