A Thai man was shot dead by two suspected militants in Thailand's southernmost province of Pattanion Friday afternoon.
Saudi Kasa was attacked, while he was on his motorbike heading home after he finished praying at a mosque in his village in Yarang district, a police official in Pattani told Xinhua during a telephone interview.
Saudi Kasa is a member of a security force for his own village.
The country's deep South comprises mainly the three southernmost provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, and some parts of Songkla province. Insurgent violence has killed over 3,500 people in deep South since its resurrection in January 2004.
