Brunei is making efforts to upgrade its radar weather monitoring system in a bid to improve its warning of extreme weather conditions, according to Brunei newspapers on Tuesday.

This was unveiled by the Brunei Deputy Communications Minister Yusof bin Haji Abdul Hamid at a convention on Monday in Brunei to mark the World Meteorological Day.

Brunei has taken steps to integrate the radar weather monitoring system nationwide, the official said.

On Monday, the sultanate also launched a new product designed to collect rainfall amount information based on a Doppler Surveillance Weather Radar.

On March 23 each year, 188 members of the World Meteorological Organization worldwide celebrate the World Meteorological Day around a chosen theme.

This year, the theme was "Weather, climate and the air we breathe".
