Papua New Guinea's (PNG's) Prime Minister Michael Somare left for Australia on Sunday to hold talks with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and tour bushfire and flood-affected areas.

Somare will meet Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on Tuesday and also call on Governor-General Quentin Bryce, the Australian Associated Press reported.

Somare has been accompanied by colleagues including Foreign Affairs, Trade and Immigration Minister Sam Abal and National Planning and District Development Minister Paul Tiensten.
