Kazakhstan is willing to be a reliable energy supplier to Europe, Senate Speaker Kasymzhomart Tokaev was quoted as saying on Thursday by Interfax.

Since a lot of the world's energy producers are located in unstable areas, Kazakhstan will become more and more important to the energy market for Europe, Tokaev said in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan.

He said energy plays an important role in Kazakh-Europe cooperation.

Kazakhstan's oil reserves are estimated at 32.5 billion barrels and natural gas reserves at 3 trillion cubic meters.

Kazakhstan also has about 20 percent of the world's known reserves of uranium which makes it a large producer of the metal.
