During the last 24 hours, 41 militants were killed and two others were arrested in various areas of Malakand and Bannu in northwest Pakistan, said the military in a press release Saturday.

At the same time, it said, one soldier was killed and seven others were injured.

Over 1,400 militants have been killed since Pakistani security forces launched the military operation against Taliban militants late April in Malakand after they refused to vacate the areas they had occupied.
