Nepali Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said Sunday his government would ensure security to journalists.

Speaking to journalists who went to his official residence in the capital Kathmandu on Sunday morning to submit a memorandum demanding security to journalists, the prime minister said that the government will leave no stone unturned to provide a safe and sound working environment for journalists.

Journalists affiliated to various media associations including Reporters Club Nepal, Federation of Nepalese Journalists and Press Chautari among others, went to the PM's official residence to draw his attention at the attacks on two journalists affiliated to Avenues TV on Thursday.

Casino staff at Hotel Malla in Kathmandu had assaulted the journalists when they went to report the police raid at the casino the previous night. Nobody has been arrested yet in connection with the incident despite an FIR lodged by the TV.

Nepal said he would direct the security agencies to arrest and take action against those involved immediately.

Earlier on Sunday morning journalists staged a sit-in in front of the PM's residence before submitting the memorandum.
