A total of 31 terrorists, including foreigners, were killed and 50 injured in northwestern and tribal areas in the last 24 hours, said the Pakistani militaryin a press release on Sunday.

One security man lost his life and four others were injured in the operation in Malakand, Bannu of North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and South Waziristan tribal Agency, said the press release.

Consolidation and search operation is being carried out in various areas of NWFP, while security forces are engaged in relief activities for displaced persons.

Over 1,400 militants have been killed since Pakistani security forces launched the military operation against Taliban militants late April in Malakand after they refused to vacate areas they had occupied.
