South Korean foreign ministry confirmed Tuesday that a South Korean woman kidnapped in Yemen has been found killed, strongly condemning the incident.

Among the bodies of three women found, according to the Yemeni government, one of them has been confirmed to be that of the South Korean woman, a foreign ministry official said.

The 34-year-old woman named Eom Young-sun, who had been on a picnic in northern Yemeni province with eight others from Germany and Britain, was reported to have been missing since last Friday.

The nine people were known to have been kidnapped by local rebels, the Yemeni government said, adding that the fate of the remaining six is still unknown.

The South Korean foreign ministry on an official statement showed strong anger over the killing although the killers haven't been identified.

"The government cannot contain the anger and shock over the confirmation that our national has been killed," the ministry said in a statement.

South Korea will closely cooperate with Yemen, Germany, and Britain in digging into details of the case, it added.
